Portland Fish Exchange in Portland, ME
Cod is now being regulated more than it has been, ever, in the Gulf of Maine. NOAA says the water temperature in the gulf is slightly increasing, and codfish stocks are overfished, and dropping. To compensate for this new regulation, the feds are allowing fishermen to take more haddock to compensate for a (potential) anticipated 40 percent hit on what they earn yearly from losing cod profits. One problem though-haddock and cod swim together, making it nearly impossible to catch one, without catching the other.
